It can help identify, at an early stage, possible health or learning concerns, so that children can get help even before starting kindergarten. Minnesota law requires that your child be screened before enrollment in public school kindergarten. The service is provided at no cost to families and the results of each portion are discussed with the parent or guardian.</p><ul>
<li>Earlier is better! <strong>The best age to screen is between 3.5 and 5 years of age</strong>. Screening can help detect possible health or learning concerns so that children can get help before kindergarten.</li>
<li>Children enrolled in Head Start will be screened there and records are forwarded to their school district.</li>

Current members of the Spring Lake Park Speech Team and head coach Shannah Anderson will co-lead this four-day program where we will focus on effective speaking techniques as well as strengthening leadership skills. Participants will explore the 13 categories of MSHSL Speech (Creative Expression, Discussion, Duo Interpretation, Extemporaneous Reading, Extemporaneous Speaking, Great Speeches, Humorous Interpretation, Informative Speaking, Original Oratory, Serious Drama Interpretation, Serious Poetry Interpretation, Serious Prose Interpretation and Storytelling). This program is designed to help children (and their adults!) learn woodworking and tool-use skills to enhance their backyards for the birds! Both registered child and their adult will make a small bird feeder, complete with a bag of black oil sunflower seeds, that will be ready to be put up in a tree right after the workshop. 100% of the cedar wood used in the kits has been recycled from either a fence tear-out or a cut-off from a new fence project that was slated to go to a landfill. </p><p>Registration fee for this program is for 1 adult and 1 child. Program is geared for children ages 3 and up.
