    Join this class where students learn to design, measure, cut, sew, modify, make and take home their very own sewing projects. No experience necessary. All students make their own projects lead by a qualified sewing instructor. Students will learn hand-sewing and machine-sewing techniques during this summer day camp.

    SLPHS and SLP Community Ed are proud to partner in the support of private music lessons. Lessons are $30 per half an hour, offered by trimester in a "pack" of lessons payable in one fee. All lessons will be held in the SLPHS Music Suite. Financial support is available for students who qualify for Educational Benefits. Trimester 3 Flute Lessons: Instructor Heather Samuelson- Heather has a degree from Concordia College, Moorhead. She went to Concordia on a flute performance scholarship, performing with the Concordia Band, Jazz Band and Flute Choir. Her love of playing continues as she performs with the North Suburban Concert Band, Centennial Community Band and plays at church. With 10 years of teaching experience, she’s excited to share her passion and love of music, help students grow in their musical skills and strengthen their playing for band and music auditions.. Trimester 3 Low Brass Lessons: Instructor: Chris Allen is a musician and educator based in White Bear Lake, MN. Primarily playing bass and tenor trombones, but also alto trombone, euphonium, and tuba on occasion. He currently performs regularly with The Paper Clips, Mankato Symphony, Century Jazz Ensemble, and Star of the North Jazz Orchestra. Chris holds an undergraduate degree from Gustavus Adolphus College where he studied with Scott Moore and Larry Zimmerman, and studied at the graduate level at the University of Minnesota with Thomas Ashworth. He has taken additional lessons with Andy Chappell (MN Orch), Douglas Wright (MN Orch), Achilles Liarmakopoulos (Canadian Brass), Michael Levine (Dallas Brass), and Henry Charles Smith III. Trimester 3 Trumpet Lessons: Instructor: Leighton Tuenge is a professional freelance trumpet player who performs all types of music around the Twin Cities area, including jazz, classical music and pop music. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire in 2022 majoring in music liberal arts and has a certificate in audio recording. Since then, he has played in cover bands such as Inafunk and High and Mighty, been involved in multiple theater shows and performs with his own original jazz trio. Outside of music, he enjoys coffee and outdoors. He teaches all levels of trumpet players and is excited to be working with Spring Lake Park!   • STEM Workshops with STEM Builders Gr 1-8

    Drones July 8-12 - 1-3 pm - Grades 5-8 - Droneblocks allows students to watch their code come to life as they program their own drone! Students learn how to control their drones through code to perform a series of stunts. Students fly drones in both virtual and live. Students master skills with their own challenges which will include aerial stunts and a student made obstacle course. LEGO Robotics - First LEGO League - Aug 12-16 - 1-3 pm Grades 5-8 First Lego League is for students grades 5-8th who engage in research, problem-solving, coding, and engineering - building and programming a LEGO robot that navigates the missions of a robot game. This camp will prepare new and returning participants to build a robot, and compete in an exciting, mission-based robotics game.
  • Scent-sational Art with Kidcreate Studio Gr k-3

    Come for the pretty pineapple printmaking, but stay for the sweet citrus scent! In this class, we’ll draw, paint, sculpt and more, but we’ll do it all with a very special twist- these SCENT-SATIONAL works of art all smell as sweet as they look! Come learn the secret ingredients for sweet-smelling artwork as we create cute pointillism cupcakes, a field of tulips, and more. Yes, you read it all right- this class is full of scratch and sniff artwork that smells as sweet as it looks! Please pack a nut free snack and drink for your child each day.
  • Spanish Immersion Summer Academy- Grades 1-6

    Students will practice their Spanish language skills through a variety of activities including: arts, STEM, sports, cultural, music, games, etc. This summer academy will be led by SLP Woodcrest Spanish Immersion teachers.This academy is intended for students who are currently enrolled in the SLP Spanish Immersion program and want a chance to practice and maintain their language skills over the summer. Camp will run from 8:00am-12:00pm Monday through Friday at Woodcrest Elementary. Students may sign up for either or both weeks of academy. Please make sure to register for each week separately if you would like to sign your child up for both weeks. Note for Learning Ventures Families:If your student is also in Learning Ventures the week of Spanish Immersion Summer Academy, we can shuttle students back to the High School for P.M. Learning Ventures care. You will receive a partial credit back on your Learning Ventures account for days that your child is enrolled in both Spanish Camp and Learning Ventures. Please indicate in the registration form whether or not your child needs to be transported to the High School for P.M. Learning Ventures.
  • Strength and Speed Camp Gr 6-12

    Panther Strength & Speed Camp PANTHER WEIGHT ROOM Summer Strength & Speed Camp is the camp for anyone looking to get stronger and faster this summer. Participants will train 3 days a week with SLP coaches. Our program is designed for any athlete to improve agility, speed and strength. Coaching Staff includes; John Stewart – SLP Teacher, Head Football Coach & Weight Room Coordinator; Doug Potthoff – SLP Teacher, Football & Track Coach; Sara Hale – SLP Teacher, Cross Country Assistant & Co-Head Track Coach; Daulton Olinger – SLP Teacher, Football & Track Coach. Other SLP coaches will join our staff throughout the summer. Session 1 – 7 am – 8 (Any student grades 9-12) Session 2 – 8 am – 9 (Any student grades 9-12) Session 3 – 9 am – 10 (Any student Gr 9-12) Session 4 – 10 am – 11 (Females 6-12) Session 5 – 11 am – 12 (any student grades 6-8) No Camp July 1-4
  • Swim Camp - Conditioning and Drills Gr 7-12

    Summer Conditioning and Drills - For students entering grades 7-12 in fall 2024 Athletes will participate in conditioning and stroke drills. There will be a focus on conditioning on Mondays and Wednesdays, and athletes will spend practice doing various sets that will help with their overall conditioning. Tuesday and Thursday practices will focus more on drills, and athletes will spend the time learning the proper techniques for stroke mechanics, starts and turns for all four strokes. Coached by SLPHS swim team coaches Greg Kugler and Bethany Dickert. No practice the week of July 4. No camp June 19. Intro to Swim Team Camp - For students entering grades 7-9 in fall 2024 One week of camp for athletes interested in seeing what Swim Team is all about. Athletes will be a part of the regular camp, but only committed for the first week. Athletes can then decide to add on the rest of the summer - more info on this will be available from Coach Kugler or CE Manager Chris Lammers, clamme@district16.org

Each training day will be dedicated to specific aspects of the game, including serve, volley, ground strokes and overheads. Match play will be included each week and also include games. An energetic contemporary music set will be played in the background each day. NO MAKE UP'S DUE TO WEATHER EACH PARTICIPANT IS REQUIRED TO PROVIDE THEIR OWN RACQUET MS Drills and Matches - Gr 5-8 For high school boys and girls players. Players will be separated by skill level.     We are thrilled to offer our students the opportunity to work with some of the finest teaching artists in the Twin Cities! Our program combines acting, singing and movement to establish and hone the building blocks of performing, foster creativity and nurture self-esteem. Through positive and imaginative class experience, our performers will develop confidence in all of these areas, strengthen their skills and have lots of fun! This camp is open to all skill levels - no prior experience in performance required, just a desire to have fun and work with others to create some fantastic memories!
  • Track Camp Gr 1-8

    Youth Track Club will introduce your athlete to the world of Track and Field Come to as many practices as you can – work on your speed and conditioning for other sports as well! Event training includes: Sprints, Jumps, Throws, Hurdles and Relays. Program Features: Break into age groups to allow for more age appropriate instruction and coaching In-house meet on the last night - Aug 1 Info will be given about optional youth meets through USA Track and Field MN in either Woodbury or St. Louis Park during the summer This is a program for new to track. Athletes who compete with the high school team (JV or Varsity) should enroll in summer strength and speed Instructors: SLPHS Track Head Coaches plus Varsity Track athletes/student coaches.
  • Trapped: Engineer's Escape Room with Engineering for Kids Gr 3-7

    Escape this room! Problem-solving, creative plots, strategic thinking, and teamwork under pressure makes escape rooms exciting and memorable. Each day starts with a simulated escape room where teams have to solve engineering challenges and puzzles in order to escape...like a Hijacked Plane, Underground Cave and a Locked Playroom. Engineering challenges include building straw rockets, parachutes, a flashlight, catapult and coding a robot. After escaping the room for the day, campers learn about the parts of an escape room and different types of puzzles. They will get creative and build their own escape room that they will present on the last day for other teams to solve.
  • Video Game Design with Tech Academy Gr 4-7

    Join us for an exciting week of game design! This course will give you hands-on experience developing your own game. Students will create their own version of asteroids from scratch, using construct 3, a visual coding platform that teaches students the basics and structure of programming. Computer skills are needed (this includes good keyboard and mouse skills).Bring a USB drive to save your games on the last day.
  • Volleyball - Girls Camp 2024

    Grades 3-6: This camp is designed to teach young players the basic skills used in volleyball. We will cover all the primary skills and put the players in playing situations so that they can use the skills they are learning. They will get lots of reps and will have fun as they learn skills and play together! Players should wear a t-shirt, spandex or loose shorts, knee pads, volleyball shoes or other athletic shoes and bring a water bottle. Grades 7-12: This camp is designed to be a high rep and fast paced camp! It is for players going into grades 7-12 who have beginner or advanced volleyball skills and knowledge. We will focus on the development of all volleyball skills throughout the week. Players will also get an opportunity to work on a specific position that they are interested in focusing on. Along with skill work, the players will get lots of playing opportunities each day that will prepare them for fall season! Players should wear a t-shirt, spandex, knee pads, volleyball shoes and bring a water bottle.
  • Westwood - OST Music

    5th Grade Choir: Join the 5th grade choir today! In this ensemble we will learn about our beginning singing voices in a healthy, fun, and active environment. Students will learn how to sing in unison and two-part harmonies along with basic sight singing, music theory, reading sheet music, cultural perspectives, and more! This is an active ensemble where we will use games, dance, and movement to get students singing music from around the world. Concert will be May 9. 6th Grade Extra Choir: Come and sing! This ensemble is specifically for 6th grade students who wish to take band and still sing in the 6th grade choir. In this group we will learn how to sing in two-part harmonies from music around the world. This is an active ensemble where we will dance, sing, and add movement to our singing work to engage students in a fun, interactive way. Students will increase their knowledge of sight-singing, reading sheet music, and participating in a full ensemble. Students in this choir will have the opportunity to sing in the 6th grade choir concert on May 7, 2024 at 7:00 PM. Sign up today and get ready to SING! Jazz Band 8 - Tuesdays: Jazz Band 8 plays jazz music styles that range from rock to swing. All band instruments are welcome to play, and students must be enrolled in Westwood’s 8th grade curricular band program to participate. In addition to instruments within the band, those that study guitar, bass, and piano are welcome to join. Jazz Band 7 - Thursdays: Jazz Band 7 plays jazz music styles that range from rock to swing. All instruments are welcome to play, but participants must be in Westwood’s Band program to participate. In addition to instruments within the band, those that study guitar and piano are welcome to join. Drumline 7/8 - Mondays: 7/8 Drumline focuses on snare drum rudiments, and gradually moves to marching snare, bass, and toms. Any student currently enrolled in Westwood’s curricular band program is welcome to participate. No prior percussion experience is required to join. Performances are based on student interest. Jazz Band 6 - Wednesdays: Jazz Band 6 plays jazz music styles that range from rock to swing. All band instruments are welcome to play, and students must be enrolled in Westwood’s 6th grade curricular band program to participate. In addition to instruments within the band, those that study guitar, bass, and piano are welcome to join. Jazz Band and Drumline will all end on May 8 with the Jazz Cafe at Westwood!
