  • Discovery Monthly-Meet-Up

    Come and join a hybrid ECFE class that offers weekly online parent discussion time and a monthly family meet-up session focusing on developing your child's school readiness skills through play and learning activities. Class will meet in person on the first Thursday of the session. There will be planned parent-child activities and a separating time for parent discussions (see session topics below). On weeks 2-4 of each session, we'll meet virtually for a 30-45 minute discussion either live or asynchronous, depending on topic, No sibling care available. The First class of each session is in person at the DSC. Second-Fourth classes are vis WebEx, the time will be determined by class participants.
  • ECFE Virtual (birth - 5 years)

    Join live via WebEx! We'll have circle time with Ms. LeAnne and parent discussion with Stephanie. We'll sing songs, read stories and do activities together for 30 minutes. Parent discussion will be 30 minutes. Plus, Schoology for parent resources. Join us for our new COVID-friendly class!
  • Early Childhood Screening

    Early Childhood Screening is a FREE, quick and simple check of your child`s development. It can help identify, at an early stage, possible health or learning concerns, so that children can get help even before starting kindergarten. Minnesota law requires that your child be screened before enrollment in public school kindergarten. The service is provided at no cost to families and the results of each portion are discussed with the parent or guardian. Earlier is better! The best age to screen is just before the child`s fourth birthday, between 3 and 4 years of age. Screening can help detect possible health or learning concerns so that children can get help before kindergarten. Children enrolled in Head Start will be screened there and records are forwarded to their school district. Early Childhood Screening is conducted by qualified professionals to help identify specific needs a child may have in the areas of: - Vision & Hearing - Height & Weight - Cognitive & Social Development - Fine & Gross Motor Skills - Immunizations & Health History Location: Screening location varies, please check each appointment for where it will take place.   • Family School for English Learners

    Speaking more than one language is a valuable asset! This English-immersion class will help parents and young children practice their English skills and help prepare children for kindergarten. Participants will also share their home languages and culture. All adults MUST be able to speak some English. Children and parents will spend the entire class time together.   • Imagine That (Birth-5 years) (Max 10 families)

    Imagination allows children to practice real-life skills and encourages vocabulary and creative thinking. For 75 uninterrupted minutes, parents and children will participate together in creative learning activities. Registration is required; use the sliding fee scale. Siblings in kindergarten are welcome to also register for class. No sibling care is available.
  • Nature's Buddies (2.5-7 years) - SIgns of Winter

    Engage your child's wonder and curiosity about nature in this five-session series. Live animals, lessons by the naturalist and outdoor activities will enhance the learning each week! Please dress appropriately for the weather. During a portion of each class period, parents will meet with a family educator to discuss topics of interest. The class is designed for preschool through age 7, but younger children are welcome.
